When a power cut struck leaving a bariatric patient in difficulty our Salterhebble Loan Store team worked on together and provided first class care.
And their speedy response - and all their other fab work - has earned them this month’s Star Award.
Nominator and their team leader, Andrew Mould, said “We had a call out to a bariatric patient whose pressure equipment failed due to a lengthy power cut at the property where the patient lives. The team pulled together to get together the equipment required to rectify the issue and delivered it to the district nurse team on site. This prevented the patient from having to be admitted into hospital and stopped any further distress.
"The team got the call 20 minutes before the end of the working day and several members off staff stayed behind to make sure the visit was completed."
Andrew said this was just one example yet it is something the team do often to make sure that "we put the patient first".
The team delivers, fits and maintains a variety of equipment including everything from key safes up to and including Profiling beds, specialist beds, air mattresses and cushions, riser recliner chairs as well as daily living aids.
Andrew added: "I personally think the team should be recognised for the commitment and dedication shown. The team regularly go above and beyond in all aspects of the service. The team will daily take on extra visits, fitting in call outs, delivering and fitting equipment at short notice at the same time as maintaining an almost 100% delivery KPI. This means equipment is delivered within a seven working day time frame. All this whilst having a massive upheaval after losing several members of experienced staff due to retirement - and they had collectively nearly 50 years’ experience”
After the surprise presentation Andrew added “Everyone was really surprised, we tend to just crack on and get on with what we need to do. The team didn’t expect it at all. Like I mentioned in the nomination, the team all pull together well and always do what’s needed for our patients.”
