One of our midwives is one of our newest mums and apprentice healthcare assistant was one of the oldest "babies" at this year's IVF Party.
Midwife Steph Burdett and her husband Chris were there with six month-old twins Minnie and Frankie born after care with us and HCA Emily Broomfield, now 19, was born after her mum went through fertility treatment when the unit was in its early days.
Steph came to us after a failed attempt at another Trust. She said: " I can't speak highly enough of the whole team. Everything is so personal. You are not a number, you are a person. It all felt so right. "
Emily, now 18 and working on 6BC, is daughter of sister Linda Broomfield who works in endoscopy at HRI. Emily also has a twin brother Alex and their five-year-old niece is also an IVF baby born after care with us. Emily said: " The party is a manic and lovely event. "
Yorkshire Fertility - formerly the Assisted Conception Unit - this year is celebrating its 21st birthday and also one of its buisest years on record after expansion into Bradford, Wakefield, Dewsbury and Pontefract.
Hundreds of parents and their children of all ages attended the event in the dining room at CRH and raffles raised around £400 towards next year's event.
Thanks to Lina and ISS for the spread including some terrific old-style jam butties (pictured) and thanks to fertility nurse specialist Susie Best's daughters Grace and Lily for sterling work on the gift stall. (also pictured)
Sister Helen Marvell, said: " It is all about the team here. It's team spirit is what binds us all together and makes our care special. We feel like our patients are our friends as we have all gone through so much together and to see all the smiles means so much to everyone."
