THIS MESSAGE ONLY applies to colleagues on Agenda for Change terms and conditions and Local Senior Managers’ Pay.
The Executive Board approved the Pay Progression Policy on 2 March 2017 and this will be effective from 1 April 2017.
The policy requires colleagues to apply for pay increments and sets a requirement for the completion of mandatory training and an appraisal at the point they do so.
Note – for 2017/18 the following 5 mandatory training subjects will be measured:
- Fire Safety
- Infection Prevention and Control
- Information Governance
- Moving and Handling
- Safeguarding (Adults and Children)
Running alongside the Pay Progression Policy colleagues also need to be aware of changes to appraisal arrangements. An appraisal season is being introduced and for 2017 will run from 1 July to 31 October (to avoid overlapping with EPR implementation). From 1 April 2018 the appraisal season will run from 1 April to 30 June each year. All appraisals must be undertaken in the appraisal season.
To help introduce the policy colleagues with incremental dates between 1 April and 30 June 2017 can count all appraisals and mandatory training activity conducted in the 12 months prior to 31 March 2017 for pay progression purposes.
Further detailed guidance is available on the intranet. This includes a question and answer document describing the process for colleagues to apply for incremental progression and a similar document for managers setting out what they need to do. The guidance is available on the Pay Progression Intranet Site and can also be accessed by clicking onto the headline banner on the main intranet page.
