Thanks to much hard work by wards and departments alongside Infection Control, more than 80 areas across CHFT are now 100% compliant in Aseptic Non-Touch Technique (ANTT).

The team on the Day Surgery Unit  (DSU) at HRI is just one of the teams celebrating achieving a fantastic 100% compliance in ANTT - designed to protect all our patients from infection during invasive clinical procedures.

Clinical Operations Manager, Vicky Smith (pictured front row second from right) said "The whole department has worked really hard at getting the percentage up for our ANTT sign-off and we are really proud we have achieved 100%".

All clinically based colleagues who are involved in invasive clinical procedures require ANTT assessment.

Our Infection and Prevention Control Team (IPCT) have worked to increase the number of assessors at CHFT to help support the assessment process.

Senior Infection Prevention and Control Nurse Karen Tomlinson (pictured far right) said "This is really excellent news and is being aspired to throughout the Trust to support patient safety.

"In October 2015 when our team took responsibilty for ANTT assessor training, our overall Trust ANTT compliance was 66%. It has increased monthly and now stands at 86% illustrating the determined efforts of everyone, and that is something I am very proud of.

"To have more than 80 areas achieving 100% shows the efforts everyone is putting in to get it right for our patients".
