F&SS have taken a slightly new direction in their approach for a new Clinical Manager band 7 for the Children’s Ward.

They've involved patients and their families to give extra input into the recruitment process. As service users they have made suggestions about the nature of the questions to give the process extra value

Members of the public can be listened to and have the opportunity to help influence getting the right person into post in a service which they are using.

Lead Directorate Nurse Children's Services Julie Mellor, said: "They devised their own powerful and thought provoking questions for the candidate and they enjoyed the experience. They were reimbursed for their travel expenses and provided with a gift voucher for helping with the process.

“I thought it really helped to add value to the recruitment process and truly helps to put the child, young person and family at the heart of whatever we do."

“It helps staff to think from another person's perspective and upholds the Trust values of standing in others peoples shoes about a service which we work in every day.”
