Our EPR Friends will be on hand at go-live to make sure their colleagues get help from an expert quickly, meaning they can complete their tasks and feel confident in using the system.

Today we hear from Community Matron Liz Morley about why she's taken up the role...

What is your job role?

Divisional Matron

What inspired you to become an EPR Friend?

A desire to have a greater understanding of EPR and what it will mean for colleagues and to be in a position to help support them during this transition period and beyond. We already use an electronic patient record in my teams so this will give me the confidence to support staff to embrace EPR.

What are you most looking forward to when EPR goes live?

The ability to see the wider patient record. At present we are restricted to the information available on the system we use. The facility to have more information at our fingertips will positively influence our decision making. The ability to see the whole record will greatly improve patient outcomes and experience.

What is your main concern about EPR?

We are currently working on developing a process to ensure that District Nurse referrals are still received at cut over and out of hours when EPR goes live.

What is your favourite part of your job and how do you think EPR will affect this?

Getting out with my teams and caring for and treating patients in their own home environments, assisting patients to be the decision makers when it comes to their health needs and enabling as many of them as possible to stay at home. EPR will support this by giving Community team’s access to information immediately; it will improve communication between professionals and reduce unnecessary visits.

Like all our EPR Friends, Liz will be there to support her colleagues when they encounter issues with EPR. She'll work closely with the experts as a "first line" to assist colleagues in using EPR with confidence.
