Keen painter Andy Hardie (who works at CRH on the front desk) recently donated a painting to ward 8 - and the team were thrilled to receive it.
Andy, who has worked at the hospital for 15 years, told CHFT Weekly "I really enjoy painting. I seem to have a bit of a flair for it, though haven't had any formal training".
"The reason I wanted it to go to the hospital was because a number of years ago I had to stay with a patient with TB for around six weeks. We were on ward 5 and I remember back then it was a little bland, though it's clearly been decorated since!
"I painted this image of a butterfly in a couple of days. The butterfly matches the dementia butterfly scheme which is why I asked if it could go to a dementia ward."
Andy isn't just a security guard and receptionist. He also has his NVQ Level 3 in customer service, is a first aider and is also on a Health and Safety group.
Prevention of Delirium Cordinator Kirsty Jowett said "I want to thank Andy for his kind donation of the painting. I absolutely love it and know our patients and visitors will benefit too. And to have the butterfly connection is a really special touch.
"Ward manager Paula McDonagh is also overwhelmed by his gesture and will make sure it's displayed prominently".
