Dr Mansoor Ali, research nurse Matt Robinson and the wider research team have been recognised for their hard work in recruiting patients into a national controlled trial called STOP ACEi.

The team were thanked specifically by the Birmingham Clinical Trials Unit (BCTU) who run the STOP-ACEi programme. Over the past couple of months CHFT have recruited more people onto the trial, which is supporting research for patients with progressive stage 4 or 5 Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).

Dr Mansoor Ali, the principal investigator for this trial at CHFT, said: " Without the combined efforts of the research team, in particular Catherine Hawksworth and Irfan Alam this wouldn't have been possible.

"I'd urge colleagues to actively take part in research activities. In the long run this helps benefit our patients as well as raise the profile of CHFT".

** Stop ACEi is not the first renal trial to take place at CHFT. Dr Ali along with research colleagues and the AKI collaborative group has also contributed towards other studies namely AKI 0 by 2025 study (an ISN initiative), RISK study (predicting AKI), and currently enrolling renal patients into RADAR (rare renal diseases).
