40 GP trainee GPs and representatives from 10 GP practices attended our  third careers fair at the Learning and Development Centre at CRH.

Our Medical Education department runs the GP training programme for Calderdale and Kirklees (Pennine General Practice Speciality Training Scheme). Medical Education Manager Sue Burton said "The events have been so successful in the past that the GP practices were keen we ran it again".

The aim of the event was to let the trainee GP trainees (hospital and GP based) know about what their practice can offer and there was some great feedback.

Dr Katrina Akram, GP Speciality Trainee said "The Pennine Jobs Fair was an interesting opportunity to see the diversity of different practices in the region. I think it gave GP registrars a great opportunity to introduce themselves in a very informal way, helping them to decide whether to take the next step and drop off a CV or arrange an informal visit to the practice. I think many were glad to spend the afternoon networking."

And GPST Co-ordinator and event organiser Omar Khatab, said: "It was a real success on the day and we had some great feedback from attendees such as Dr Akram. It's also a great way for the practices to meet their potential GPs of the future".
