After our most-successful ever seasonal flu campaign, Owen announced yesterday Anne King as Immuniser of the Year.
Owen had made a personal pledge to give £250 to charity at the start of the campaign and after winning Anne said she wanted it go to Overgate Hospice as a thankyou for their support with her personal development and training in her role.
Owen and Chief Nurse Brendan Brown thanked all the flu team at a tea party yesterday afternoon. At the session, Owen said: " Congratulations to everyone involved. We reached 76.5% immunised which was great but what really matters is that yourselves, colleagues and patients were all protected and patient safety always comes first."
Occupational Health's Christine Bouckley, who provided buns and cup cakes for the tea party, said: "Anne made an outstanding effort in the community. She is one of the flu steering group and goes above and beyond. She visited mamy of our bases in her own time and is an all-round good sport!"
All received a certificate which they can use toward their revalidation portfolio. They also had the chance to share their thoughts on the campaign as a whole - what they thought went well as well as what we could do differently this year (yes it really is this year!).
All this feedback will help us toward planning the next campaign.
