Our Deputy Director of Nursing Lindsay Rudge welcomed guests to our second Jobs Fair and talked about her own career rise at the Trust from qualifying in 1993 to her current role. We hired 32 new nurses including some returning to practice at the event at HRI on Saturday morning and they should be on our wards and departments in the next few months.
Lindsay thanked everyone for putting on such a good show, sourcing the information and items on the stands. " Everyone has gone that bit extra so the Trust can stage this Jobs Fair. The success is all due to them!"
There were representatives from all areas: many wards, community colleagues and workforce benefits.
At the formal welcome, Lindsay told the guests how the Trust invests in its colleagues. "We invest in you to help you to be what you want to be. I have had a really varied career with a lot of opportunities. It is a fantastic place to work."
She also said being compassionate to each other was key. "We have to be compassionate to each other as well as to out patients and their families. This is really important if you are new to a team."
Lindsay said she had worked in many areas including male medical and cardiology, as sister in MAU, on radiology and pathology projects and in infection prevention and control.
She added: " The Trust has supported me to do a degree. We invest in you to help you to be what you want to be."
Appraisals as well as flexible opportunities on hours, long days, short days, weekends and night shift opportunites were all on offer to help colleagues establish a good work/life balance as far as possible.
Big thanks to everyone who turned out on a very windy Saturday to showcase their teams and their areas of care. Top marks to the team who managed to acquire a Chuppa Chupps mountain!
Here's a few photos to capture the day and again, big thanks to everyone!.
