As well as being nice to look at and walk in, green spaces and trees support our wellbeing. To help develop three garden projects at CRH, Rooting and Fruiting are putting on three sets of activities; a tree planting day, a monthly gardening group and horticulture therapy activities.

Tree planting day - Tuesday 28 February (opposite Diabetes Centre)

A great opportunity for colleagues to get involved in planting up our staff wellbeing forest gardens.

Colleagues can meet the team from Community Forest Trust and learn about fruit trees. There will be a practical demo of tree planting and you could be one of the first colleagues to plant in the new garden. Refreshments will be available (tasty teas and apples pancakes), as well as information to take-away and details of what’s on offer through spring and summer.

With lots of time slots throughout the day, there should be something to suit everyone:- 9:00-10:00, 10:30-11:30, 12:00-13:00, 13:30-14:30, 15:00-16:00.

Please book a space to avoid disappointment. Call or mail Beth Morgan, project co-ordinator on beth@rootingandfruiting.co.uk 07771 202 702.

Horticulture therapy at The Dales - Thursday 9 March (spaces are available for CHFT colleagues)

Primarily aimed at work in The Dales, we will be exploring food forest and horticulture therapy activities to engage and support recovery for people with mental health issues. We will do a mix of practical and theoretical learning, with simple and quick activities to support patients. This will include planting for anxiety and stress relief, and for cooking. We will begin the planting of a small food forest area in The Dales garden.

The group will mainly be made up of The Dales staff team, but there are places open to CHFT colleagues who may be interested.

Interested? Call or mail Beth Morgan, project co-ordinator on beth@rootingandfruiting.co.uk 07771 202 702.
