We have physios helping our patients to regain their mobility and their lives.

The Trust has a single central centre for booking all appointments based at Brighouse Health Centre  and it has been known to take up to 400 calls a day. (see attached photo of the team there)

They book patients of all ages from 13 years up, there is no upper age limit to come in for physio. They also take referrals from across the board, from GPs, consultants and other health professionals and, for example, midwives for pregnant women. They book both first appointments and follow up appointments.

Good communication between them is at the core of their team spirit and success as a team.

Team leader Marie Maclean, explains: “If a patient calls to cancel their appointment we make the rest of the team aware straight away and can try and get that appointment filled so it isn’t wasted. That is key to how well we work as a team “

Marie added that increasingly physio is offered rather than surgery for some conditions . “Once if you had a shoulder problem surgery was common, but now physio or other pathways can work and a patient doesn’t need an operation so that is much better for our patients.”
