Phase 2 of HOOP  (Hospital Out of Hours) - the roll-out at HRI, takes place on Wednesday 1 February 2017 at 5pm.

Colleagues who would like to know more about the system can contact Dr. Annette.Burnby@cht.nhs.uk (Clinical Lead) or Catherine.Briggs@cht.nhs.uk (Lead Nurse) for more information.

The first phase went live at the Calderdale site last September. This includes electronic task management system through Nervecentre to raise and delegate tasks during the ‘out of hours’ period overnight and all day at weekends and bank holidays.

At Calderdale, wards are now sending scheduled tasks for ECGs and CVAD antibiotics allowing the coordinator to plan the workloads of the HOOP team.

Having the visibility of the junior doctors’ workload by a single coordinator allowed work to be evenly distributed and priority need to be met. Over the weekend TTOs tasked into the system allowed discharges across different wards to be prioritised aiding efficient patient flow throughout the whole hospital.

During a recent walkabout at CRH, ward staff were very positive about the task management system. They said how patients who require ECGs ,venepuncture and cannulation are not having to wait as long as previously, therefore enhancing patient experience.
