As part of Dementia Friendly Day last Saturday, a coping with dementia masterclass was held in the Board Room at HRI.
The session was held with Deputy Mayor Christine Iredale and her husband, Robert, present. Our chair Andrew Haigh, who welcomed Cllr Iredale to HRI.
Also, on the day in the Lindley community, there was a very busy ‘Marketplace’ for agencies and groups working to support people living with dementia, and a ‘how to’ workshop, presented by those with experience as support staff or carers. Children’s artwork was on display and our local home, Lindley Grange, was open to visitors.
Our chaplain, the Rev George Spencer, said: "The intention of the day was to raise awareness within the Lindley community, and to encourage people to become more knowledgeable about supporting people with dementia. Once evaluated, it is hoped similar events can be held in other neighbourhoods to help people to live well with dementia."
