Having provided a whopping 600 vaccinations between them, it's safe to say Jean Robinson and Karen Tomlinson from our Infection Control Team (pictured) played a vital part in us vaccinating 76% of frontline colleagues to date.

Jean told CHFT Weekly: "I think we’ve reached 76% down to the hard work of our peer immunisers, and the fact that so many people got behind the campaign to make a serious subject fun.

“We’re not out of the woods yet. Just like last year the flu season is now really kicking-in and we know that care homes and schools are being affected.

“So if you’ve not had your vaccination yet, there’s still time. You might not think it, though it REALLY is a better option than having the flu!”.

More than a thousand extra frontline colleagues have been vaccinated this year - an increase of 50% on last year. Here's how the figures broke down by main roles:

All doctors (excluding GPs)73.8%
Qualified nurses, midwives and health visitors74.3%
All other professionally qualified clinical staff90.1%
Support to clinical staff74.5%

If you still need your vaccination please contact Occupational Health on 01422 22 2037 for an appointment. They'll be glad to help.

And because the flu campaign had a CQUIN* payment attached to it, we’ve £650k extra to invest into patient care this year.

*CQUIN stands for commissioning for quality and innovation. We are set targets which demonstrate improvements in quality and innovation in specified areas of patient care. This means that a proportion of our income depends on achieving these goals, agreed between the Trust and its commissioners.
