Following the success of the Tour de France last year, Yorkshire will now play host to the Tour de Yorkshire. Like the Tour de France, the Tour de Yorkshire is a professional cycle race which international teams take part in.

The race will take place over three days from Friday 1st May – Sunday 3rd May 2015 (May Day Bank Holiday weekend).

The race will pass through the Calderdale and Huddersfield areas on Sunday 3rd May.

The race will enter the Huddersfield area at New Mill at approx. 1.20pm. It will leave the Huddersfield area and enter Calderdale at approx. 2.05pm. It will leave the Calderdale area through Hebden Bridge into Oxenhope at approx. 3.05pm.

The event is on a much smaller scale to the Tour de France with 1/5 of the spectators expected. There will be no planned spectator hubs or associated events.

However, this does not mean that we do not need to plan ahead.

The trust working group, similar to the one that planned for the Tour de France, has been looking at possible impacts the event could have on the trust and how we can ensure that services are maintained.

Road closures should have less of an impact as they will be rolling closures by police outriders as the race travels through the area. However, staff on duty should check the route and timings in order to plan any journeys they need to make accordingly.
