Patient power snipped the ribbon at the opening of our new Acre Mills Outpatients and Health Centre, Acre Street, Lindley, Huddersfield on Thursday, February 5 2015.

Six patients who assisted the project teams at CHFT with planning and design - from the start of the project in November 2012 –  wielded the scissors in a mega-snip at the opening ceremony. Chief Executive Owen Williams, thanked all colleagues who had made the transfer to the new building and thanked all the teams behind the project.

The new state-of-the-art facility - across from Huddersfield Royal Infirmary - will be the new hub for more than 100,000 outpatient appointments a year. The aim is to make the outpatient centre as paperless as possible with scanned records meaning that patient files will not need to be transferred across the sites. There is also on-site X-ray and blood testing.

The top floors will include hot-desking areas and offices with the clinic and treatment areas on the floors below.

Car parking on the site will be made easier to use through a new vehicle registration plate identification process without any barriers.

Director of Planning, Performance, Estates and facilities, Lesley Hill, said: “This has been a remarkable recycling project turning an old disused landmark mill into a modern day healthcare centre for our local communities. It’s been a great team effort.”
