“It was inspiring, it really puts into perspective what we all do.  We do our jobs day-in, day-out and what we do is very special.”

That was how our Matron, Rachel Garside, summed up the NHS 75th service in Westminster Abbey yesterday. She was there with CHFT colleagues Barry Ackroyd, Keith Bryan, (who was interviewed by Magic FM) Rebecca Beaumont and Kulwant Kaur. The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Rishi Sunak and Keir Starmer were also in the congregation.

Part of the event was an account of how the NHS brought over and cared for children with cancer from Ukraine at the time of the Russian invasion. Barry said: “That was very emotional for me. We all enjoyed the day and were proud to have been nominated by CHFT to be there.”
