Smoking cessation advice for inpatients can now be ordered in EPR, in the same way as bloods are ordered, via a Multi-Patient Task List. Guidance documents are below.

Even if a patient is on nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) patches or any other NRT products, please refer them to the Smoking Cessation Team, as these patients' data should be captured and reported to NSHE Digital.

Please continue to complete the social history tobacco information on all admissions - you can still refer via this option.

It's a must-do to ask all patients if they smoke and whether they need support whilst in hospital.

The team can support with temporary abstinence to remain smoke free whilst in hospital, as well as on discharge refer to community services to help patients with their quit attempt. Please remind all patients and visitors we are a smoke-free and vape-free trust. They can get support and advice from the NHS Better Health website.
