As part of our commitment to ensuring our colleagues receive the support they need in their work environment, we’re asking staff to spend a minute when they’re next in ESR to let us know if they have a disability or a long-term condition.
A disability is any condition that makes it more difficult for a person to do certain activities or interact with the world around them. These conditions, or impairments, may be cognitive, developmental, intellectual, mental, physical, or sensory. Impairments causing disability may be present from birth or occur during a person's lifetime.
Telling us means that we can:
- Support you with reasonable adjustments or other workplace support
- Share targeted information or initiatives with you
- Meet the diverse needs of our colleagues, for example in relation to the provision of accessible estates and facilities
There is no expectation for you to give specific details. It’s purely a flag and colleagues can choose, as they do in all other surveys, to select a number of options (see below). All colleagues are encouraged to complete it, including those on medical rotations.
Guidance on updating your information is on the Employee Self Service pages of the intranet - see Updating your Equality and Diversity Details.
The image below shows the options you can select.
