The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Leeds Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) is inviting applications for the 2024 Pre-application support fellowships: Round 1.
In order to support applicants applying for competitive funded career development fellowships, all individuals from all professions and career stages across our region, can apply for the NIHR Leeds BRC pre application support fellowship.
Applications will need to align with the broad remit of the BRC, which is to support early translational research (musculoskeletal disease, cardiometabolic disease, surgical technologies, pathology, haematology, antimicrobial resistance and infection).
To provide the maximum impact, a suite of opportunities is offered which must start prior to 31st March 2025. The number of awards per career stage will depend on the applicant pool, with the best candidates selected using a transparent process, reporting to the BRC Executive.
These include:
(a) Research taster internships for registered Health and Care Professionals (HCPs) not currently involved in research.
(b) Pre-doctoral fellowships for HCPs and methodologists to develop a competitive PhD application.
(c) Post-doc fellowships for lab-based scientists, medical, dental, HCPs and methodologists.
Those from ethnic minorities and under-represented groups are encouraged to apply and will complement the work advocated by the Yorkshire Consortium for Equity in Doctoral Education (https://ycede.ac.uk/about/).
For successful applicants, funding will be made available to buy your time out from your current role along with funding for associated training, supervision and PPIEP
