Christmas is a time to spend with loved ones, and it can be particularly difficult for patients receiving care in hospital who aren’t able to go home over the festive period. CHFT Charity are launching a Christmas Gift Appeal, which ensures every patient in hospital at CHFT on Christmas Day receives a gift. For some, this may be the only present they receive.
The Charity is making the process of Christmas gift-giving at CHFT much easier than in previous years, and will be taking the responsibility of purchasing and hand delivering Christmas gifts for every patient who will be waking up on Christmas Day in hospital.
The Charity team have enlisted the help of Colleague Box, who will be providing a selection of CHFT Charity branded gifts for colleagues to order. We can work with wards to hand-deliver these to patients at Christmas. The gifts include:
- A wash giftset
- A festive tin of biscuits
- A festive sock surprise
The deadline for gift orders is Sunday, 15th December. Please complete this Microsoft Form to select the type and quantity of your gifts.
In order to fund a gift for every inpatient, CHFT Charity has launched a Give a Gift Appeal to raise £5,000 by 24th December and we will need your help. We are encouraging colleagues to organise their own Christmas Give a Gift Fundraising Activity. This could be a Christmas sock day, bake sale or Mince Pie Munch to help raise the £5,000 we need for the appeal. Please let the charity team know about your fundraising in advance so they can offer a helping hand.
Chief Nurse, Lindsay Rudge, and Director of Corporate Affairs, Vicky Pickles, are both supporting the campaign and said: "Help our charity to make Christmas Day a little bit brighter to help those who happen to be in hospital on Christmas Day."
A poster has been created for you to display in your area to help raise awareness about the campaign. You can save it below.
CHFT Charity has arranged the pre-order of 750 gifts, which is the equivalent of one gift per inpatient on Christmas Day. Please do not order more than you require for your ward. If you have any questions, please contact emma-leigh.quinn@cht.nhs.uk
