Colleagues in Huddersfield Pharmacy Specials (HPS) have seen some changes since their last Staff Survey results, resulting in better communications, engagement and team building.
Head of Production, Stuart Tolson, pictured with HPS’s Head of Finance, Michael Westcott below, said: “It’s been important for us as a senior team that colleagues see the results of the survey as something we can all learn from, and not just a set of statistics. So we’re encouraging them to think of them as ‘our results, or their results’ so that they can help shape improvements.”
When last year’s survey was issued, Stuart went through each question interpreting what each one meant, so that HPS colleagues could answer in the best way possible for them.
Once the results were published, an action plan was drawn up to see how changes could be made. Since last year they’ve seen:
- A new Employee of the Month Award supported by the Senior Team
- Colleagues feed into a new newsletter so everyone is kept up to date with news (with thanks to Finance for the template)
- Christmas celebrations led by colleagues lasting around four weeks. Customer Service Operator, Robert Simpson even wrote a Murder Mystery, with one of their offices becoming a crime scene for three days (no pressure for this year then!)
- Workshops to look at departmental working and workflow, and also to drill down into the People Promise of ‘We are always learning’ and what it means for HPS colleagues.
Stuart added: “We want an empowered, engaged and forward-thinking workforce and our results and actions will help support that. We’re not finished yet by a long way, we’re in this for the long haul.”
