Our latest Star Award winner is Medical Secretary Team Leader, Tegan Joseph, whose first thought was that she'd done something wrong when Chief Executive, Brendan Brown, arrived at her office to surprise her with the news!

After reassurances that Brendan was only there with good news, Tegan and the team got quite emotional as her nomination was read out. She was nominated by Palliative Care Support Worker, Rose Sunderland, for her efforts appealing for donations for the people affected by Hurricane Beryl, which hit parts of the Caribbean in July. She created a platform for colleagues at CHFT to donate essential supplies which she then distributed to local donation stations.

Rose said: "Tegan worked so hard through the whole appeal. The team and I felt nothing but pride for her. It really affected us emotionally, seeing the piles and piles of donations stacked in our office. She thought of everything she could to help the people in need. She enabled others to help and support.

"Tegan is a special soul. Her kindness and supportive nature is outstanding, not just to her colleagues but to everybody she meets. Her spirit can lift a room. She doesn't just bring a little to the table, she brings an entire feast. What a human being she is."

After getting over the shock, Tegan said: "The number of times I've been there when Star Awards have been given out! I always loved seeing colleagues recognised, so for me to receive it - I'm blown away!

"I really try to be a wellbeing ambassador for the Trust, both in my role, but also as a woman and a member of the BAME community. It's really lovely knowing that my team have my back in the same way and nominated me for a Star Award. The certificate's massive! I don't know where I'm going to put it! But wherever it does go, it'll remind me on the bad days that I'm actually doing alright."

You can nominate your own Star on the staff awards and appreciation pages of the intranet.
