A single point of contact service for Calderdale Community District Nursing teams - set up last summer - is proving to be an invaluable support for the District Nursing teams within Calderdale.

The team of seven are based at Beechwood Health Centre and handle around 900 calls between Monday and Friday each week from patients, family, carers, and other Health Professionals.

The service was developed by Community Administration Team Advisor Coordinator, Angela Wallace (pictured seated left) - and earned her a nomination for last year's annual CHuFT Awards.

Angela said: "I was privileged to have been nominated for a CHuFT award last year.  I am so proud of what my amazing team and I have achieved. Our objective is to develop the service to provide admin phone cover seven days a week within the next 18 months and continue to provide outstanding patient experience."

Community's Head Nurse, Caroline Lane, said: "The team contribute to safe patient care, kindness, and compassion in line with our commitment to One Culture of Care.  Having the team means it frees up time to concentrate on patient care rather than spending hours a day dealing with answer phone messages."

Community Matron, Louise Byrom, agrees, adding: "I am a huge advocate of this team and the work they do to support our community nursing colleagues across division and a massive improvement of the patient experience when wanting to speak to someone in relation to their care rather the answer machine services we used previously. Thanks for all you do!”

Three of the team aren't pictured: Christina Ferguson, Lindsey Tattersall and Laura O'Sullivan, who is currently on maternity leave.
