A&E receptionist, Trish Russell, was keen to know more about how we would support our elderly patients in the new HRI A&E department. She wanted to know if the new facility would provide them with a more comfortable seating area.
So, she got in touch with Chief Nurse, Lindsey Rudge, who offered her a VIP tour along with Deputy Chief Nurse, Jo Middleton.
Trish, who has worked at CHFT since 2012, moving from Elderly Medicine to A&E in 2020, said: "A&E can be a very harsh environment and despite all our efforts, it is not currently set up well for providing comfort for this vulnerable group of people.
"I was honoured to have a sneak preview of the new A&E and I was very impressed by the new department. I was pleased to see a massive improvement in comfortable areas that cater for the vulnerable.
"My colleagues and I are excited for the opening of the amazing new department later this year!
"Thank you to Lindsay, Jo, and Mark Davies for making me feel heard and welcome."
