“Fantastic”, “just brilliant” and “proud.” Just a few comments after the first showing of our Allied Health Professions (AHP) video showcasing the nine professions here at CHFT this morning at HRI, on this, their annual AHP Day.

It’s all part of the work of the team to showcase the professions across CHFT and to aid recruitment and retention.

Clinical Educator and operating department practitioner, Rosie Bevan, said: “Watching the video really makes me proud to be an AHP. And it’s nice to see how it brings us all together as a collective group.”

Others commented on how the film was a "light-hearted, and not too serious look at AHPs", that it was "humorous  and inspiring, and a good recruitment tool. Well done."

AHP Clinical Educators Arley Byrne and Jess Loxam had the idea to bring the AHP roles to life in a video, and Communications Officer, Meg Litjens, supported the videography, even writing a poem in Yorkshire dialect, ably read by Arley.

Arley said: "Meg has absolutely smashed it out of the park with the AHP video and poem. It’s always a pleasure to link up with her, but I can honestly say the bar has been set at an all time high!"

There have been multiple showings of the film at both HRI and CRH today.

We have more than 1,000 AHPs and AHP Support Workers at CHFT, including podiatrists, radiographers, occupational therapists, orthoptists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, operating department practitioners (ODPs) and dieticians.

All of our AHP teams bring their dedication, skill and compassion to CHFT and to our patients both in our hospitals and out in the community. Thank you for the countless hours you devote to improving and saving lives. Your work is truly valued.

You can watch the video on our YouTube channel.
