After this Friday, 18th October the High Street to CRH Park and Ride service will close, allowing us to put extra resources into our busy HRI to CRH shuttle bus service, and some additional direct afternoon buses to Cedar Court.
More than 400 colleagues who hold a current permit recently shared their views on how they currently get to CRH. We also asked if their intentions to travel will change now that the Park and Ride service has been in place for almost three months.
The key findings of the survey and our data shows that:
- More than 77% of colleagues who responded find the service to be convenient
- 95% of the parking spaces at High Street are vacant, with around five cars per day parking there
- Eureka! Overflow and Cedar Court are well-used
- Shuttle bus users asked us to look again at the afternoon and early evening peak-time schedules
The survey also highlighted that our drivers are friendly and helpful, the buses are reliable and the journey times are good. Colleagues also appreciate on-site parking for nights and weekends.
What happens next?
- The current High Street site will be returned to public use by Calderdale Council. We have not seen take-up for the site improve as we’d hoped, and the Council have also had feedback from numerous Halifax residents and businesses. This means we will no longer offer the High Street as a park and ride location after Friday, 18th October.
- The HRI to CRH shuttle bus service will see more services in the afternoon and early evening peak times, starting from next Monday 21st October
- There will also be a number of direct buses running between CRH and Cedar Court in the afternoons, allowing colleagues who are travelling direct to HRI quicker journey times.
- The Eureka! Overflow Park and Ride timetable will not change.
Timetables from Monday 21 October - the timetables are attached below, or you can open copies here:
- HRI to CRH shuttle bus service
- Cedar Court to CRH
- Eureka! Overflow car park to CRH - amended to remove the current services that run via High Street
Better access to the information on the intranet
Following feedback in the survey there is now a button on the right-hand side of the intranet homepage to get straight to the car parking, Park and Ride and shuttle bus information pages. These pages have also been simplified to make it easier for colleagues to access the information they need.
