Patient Martin Hodgson was so impressed with the care he received from colleagues on Ward 18 at HRI earlier this year, he came back to thank the team last week, and has even offered to volunteer at CHFT to give back to our colleagues and patients.
Martin, who has epilepsy, had a severe fall because of his illness, and he was in hospital for nine weeks with a brain injury.
He said: “I certainly wasn’t myself for at least the first four weeks in hospital. But I have to say without a doubt that I now feel as good as I did before I was diagnosed with my epilepsy, and that’s down to the care and kindness I received from every single person on Ward 18.
“From the nursing, medical and therapy teams, to the housekeepers and others, I could say good things about them all.”
Martin wanted to especially thank Domestic Assistant, Janet Coates, and Nursing Associate, Amanda Brown.
“Janet’s attention to detail and cleanliness meant that she always left my room in a better place than when she found it, and we would often have a lovely chat too.
“And if people don’t take to Amanda when they meet her, then they’ve missed their way. She’s truly a people person and I’ll never forget how friendly, helpful and caring she was.”
