There is currently a sustained fall in O D negative red blood cells. Without conditions changing, there is a risk that stock levels will move to Red alert in around three to four weeks' time.

NHS Blood and Transplant are asking for any colleagues who are O negative to urgently book to donate blood by calling 0300 123 23 23. If you don't know your blood type, you can still register to donate at blood.co.uk

Colleagues have asked if a donation centre can be set up at CHFT. A number of years ago the Blood Transfusion Service used to come out to places of work and businesses to collect blood donations. Sadly they no longer do that as it’s difficult for them to release staff from the current donor centres to set up extra locations, either permanent or temporary.
