CHFT has been rolling out eCDR-Pro (Electronic Controlled Drug Register) for almost two years now. During this time our colleagues in the pharmacy department have seen a significant improvement in their workflow and ability to manage orders coming in from clinical areas.

eCDR aims to simplify processes for Controlled Drug Accountable Officers, Medicines Safety Officers and clinical colleagues who order controlled drugs (CD). It's a software application which means orders for CDs can be done via a computer to then be received and prepared by pharmacy colleagues. Once the order is ready, the requester is notified and can then collect the order from the pharmacy department.

Director of Pharmacy, Elisabeth Street, said: "I would like to thank all those who have been involved in the development and testing of the software, those involved in training of staff in how to use eCDR and for all our clinical staff who have embraced this change in CD process."

An eCDR video has been produced to show the benefits that this system has had for CHFT and our patients. It features a few of our pharmacy and ward colleagues.
