Our latest Star Award winner is Key Worker for Child Death, Liz Martel, who has won the Award for her work supporting families after losing a child.

Liz was nominated by Head Nurse, Louise Riby, who said: "Liz continuously supports families who have tragically lost their child. She goes above and beyond to ensure families receive individualised care. She advocates for change in services to provide support in situations colleagues may find difficult to deal with.

"Liz has continued to excel in the care she provides, not just to the child or young person, but to their families and our colleagues. She is truly amazing at what she does. Liz is not only recognised by me, but by her Matron Fiona Stuttard, Anatomical Pathology Technician Fran Allen and by the patients and their families. We could not provide the care families deserve without her."

Liz said: "It was so exciting to receive my Star Award and a complete surprise! It's so lovely to have been recognised by my colleagues in this way. Supporting families at the worst time of their lives can certainly be challenging but it is such a privilege and a role which I love. I couldn't do it without my wonderful team though. Thank you so much for nominating me!"
