A research study is being conducted to look at how social networks and associated benefits impact on career success outcomes for disabled people working in the NHS. The study forms part of the work PhD student, Sandie Buchan, is taking on. The study aims to provide an evidence base that finds the factors that help or hinder disabled people in achieving successful careers in the NHS.

Sandie said: "I worked in the NHS for 22-years and I have a hearing impairment. I am completing this research as part of my PhD studies with the University of Sheffield, and I see it as an important step in understanding what's needed to ensure organisations are fully disability inclusive.

"Your involvement will help towards understanding what helps and hinders disabled people in their careers, and potentially guide future support and interventions for disabled people in employment."

If you have a disability, impairment or long-term condition and are an NHS employee, your participation in the study is being requested. There is an interview and/or a survey to complete.

If you would like to take part in the interview, please email sbuchan3@sheffield.ac.uk
