Congratulations to the Macmillan Cancer Information Service, who have been awarded a 5-Star rating as part of the Macmillan Quality Environment Mark (MQEM) assessment.

They received their highest score across all areas in this, their third inspection, which was commissioned by Macmillan and undertaken by an independent organisation.

MQEM was the first ever standard for assessing whether cancer facilities meet the holistic needs of people living with cancer. The assessment aims to set the highest possible standards for cancer care environments, based on a robust understanding of the needs of people affected by cancer and looks at five core principles:

  1. Accessibility
  2. Privacy and dignity
  3. Comfort and wellbeing
  4. Choice and control
  5. Support

Macmillan Cancer Information Service Manger, Nicola Greaves, said: "The team, including our volunteers, work hard to ensure we provide the highest standards in all aspects of our work. Achieving a 5-Star rating across each area is a testament to this."
