Equans and their contractors will be carrying out essential electrical maintenance work on the electrical switch gear at Calderdale Royal Hospital. The work will take place on weekdays during the weeks commencing Monday, 16th September and Monday, 23 September.

The electrical power supply at CRH is split into:

  • Essential Services indicated by red sockets
  • Non-essential Services indicated by white sockets

Work will commence each weekday, detailed below, at approximately 5:30am each morning.

Essential services will experience a momentary interruption of power for approximately 15 seconds (just like on the routine generator testing).

Non-essential services will experience an interruption of power for approximately 15 minutes, however the areas listed for Thursday, 26th September will experience a loss of non-essential services for up to two hours.

Following this period, essential services will experience a second momentary interruption of power of approximately 15 seconds and then both essential and non-essential services will resume.

Can colleagues please be reminded to switch off their computers correctly when leaving work prior to the electrical shutdown. This means computers must be switched off at the socket; if this does not happen there is a risk that data on display will be lost.

Prior to any electrical work commencing, Equans will visit critical areas such as A&E, ICU, Diagnostic Imaging, Theatres and Pathology to ensure colleagues are aware of the planned work and to ensure it is safe and appropriate to carry out the work.

All lifts will be appropriately signed and checked during the power interruptions.

Please direct all queries on the day to the Help Desk on 4600.

Any queries around this work prior to the day should be directed to Service Performance Team on Extension 2439 or 2530 or Email: val.rigg@cht.nhs.uk or directly to EQUANS on Extension 4633
