Colleagues on ward 5 at HRI were recently on the receiving end of a very thoughtful gift given to them by the relatives of a patient they had looked after in February.
Albert was on end of life care during his stay on Ward 5 and died peacefully. His family were so grateful for the compassion and care our colleagues showed him, and them, during his stay that they came onto the ward to give their thanks personally.
Ward 5 Sister, Tyne Heald, and Healthcare Assistant and End of Life Care Champion, Maggie Flynn, were on shift when Albert's wife and daughter came to visit. They were given a beautiful framed picture which had been crafted by Albert's daughter-in-law especially for the ward.
The family wanted to especially thank Maggie for all her hard work as Albert's end of life care champion. Tyne said: "Maggie is fantastic in her role as end of life care champion on ward 5. She cares for patients and their relatives like her own family. I am so very proud of Maggie and the work she has done since coming to ward 5 to ensure we give the best possible end of life care to our patients and their families."
