Thanks to colleague feedback, today our new routes for our Park and Ride service have begun, which will cut down journey times from our managed car parks in Halifax to 10 minutes.

In summary, colleagues asked us to:

  • Reduce the bus journey times. By stopping the Halifax Loop, we can provide dedicated buses from High Street to CRH and Eureka! Overflow to CRH, reducing journey times down to just 10 minutes for all passengers (from up to 22 minutes previously).
  • Make the Cedar Court Hotel service more reliable. A dedicated bus route now operates at peak times in the morning to ensure there are enough seats for colleagues parking at Cedar Court.  The return trip will continue to be by request only as part of the business as usual shuttle bus service.
  • Bring back the business as usual shuttle service. Introducing the dedicated bus for Cedar Court means that the HRI – CRH shuttle will return to operating four buses per hour at peak times, without stopping at Cedar Court.
  • Improve the experience of using the Park and Ride sites. We have invested in additional safety and security measures at Eureka! and High St including enhanced lighting and extra security such as CCTV linked to the local police stations. Similar measures are already in place at Cedar Court Hotel.

Additionally from today, the buses will no longer stop at Savile Park Moor. We cannot control parking on the public highway and are not able to provide the same level of safety and security at the Moor as we can in our managed car parks. The number of cars now parking there means that there is no safe stopping place for the shuttle bus and, due to some unsafe parking behaviours in the area, several parking restrictions are soon being introduced by the Council.

We also know that significantly more people are consistently using the Park and Ride at Cedar Court than at the Moor, so to implement all the improvements above, we have had to redistribute our resources to address wider demand for the service.

Please keep sharing your feedback on the service, as we will continue to review it as the schools return soon.
