Congratulations to Head Nurse for Medicine, Vanessa Dickinson, and Matron, Clair Woodrow, for recently graduating from the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson programme with a Master's Degree in Healthcare Leadership.

The programme was for 24 months and aimed to help participants develop a deeper understanding of the patient experience, whilst also strengthening existing leadership practice.

Vanessa said: "I enrolled on the course to further develop my leadership skills. I felt this would provide me with the right level of support for my teams and in turn result in good quality care being delivered to our patients.

"Now that I've graduated, my plans are to use the skills I have developed within my current role as Head Nurse and in the future look at career progression."

Clair said: "It feels like such an achievement to have completed the Master's. The programme was very intense and a lot of hard work, it required excellent time management and dedication in order to complete. I did find it challenging at times but it was worth it in the end.

"My intention now is to share the skills and knowledge I have gained with others to continually improve safe and effective quality care for patients."
