Programme managers, specialist screening practitioners (SSPs) and administrators from the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP) recently participated in a successful health and wellbeing session.

Wellbeing Advisor and Freedom to Speak Up Ambassador, Jill Palmer, supported the team with their session.

Jill took the team through a series of exercises to get them speaking about the challenges the team have faced in recent years. This included significant changes to the delivery of the BCSP, an expanding workforce, pressures of delivering bad news and the lack of opportunity to be together as a team.

The result was the team taking some valuable away time.

Jill along with Lead SSP, Lydia Nhavira, worked hard to pull together activities which resulted in a productive morning. It included a session talking about favourite foods, a series of thought-provoking videos and examples of Breathworks exercises. Lunch and a goodie bag was also provided for each member of the team.

Colleagues who attended really benefitted, saying:

“It was really nice to get positive comments between us and finding common experiences and ground together. It was great.”

“It was very helpful and very organised. Being together was great.”

“Lots of useful and positive information.”

“Fabulous – thank you! Love my team.”

Bowl Cancer Screening Manager, Natalie Hill, said: "Following the event, the team appear to be more bonded, positive, relaxed and are looking forward to the next time they can get together.
