It was Healthcare Assistant Les Schofield's last day on Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU) last Friday after 11 years with the team.

He was fondly waved off to his new role on the Same Day Emergency (SDEC) Care Unit by Consultant, Mr Ilsley, with ward managers Fran Howland and Emma Armitage.

Fran said: "Les has been part of the furniture on SAU and Surgical SDEC for such a long time. He is the Dad of the ward and one of those 'larger than life' characters who you can't help but love.

"With a heart of gold, he always cheers up both patients and staff, and medical SDEC are very lucky to have him! We wish him all the best as he moves on to pastures new, and can't thank him enough for the true dedication he has given to us over the years."
