Colleagues may be aware of the incidences of violent disorder in UK towns and cities over the weekend and we know that some colleagues will be affected by these shocking scenes either directly or indirectly. We are privileged to have colleagues at CHFT from countries across the world and we serve and support diverse communities in both Calderdale and Kirklees.
As part of our One Culture of Care, if you in any way affected and need support, assistance or advice please speak to your line manager or anyone within the Trust. Support is also available for colleagues through our 24/7 wellbeing programme, Vivup. Details of how to access the support are available on our intranet pages.
Local councils are working closely with West Yorkshire Police to ensure public safety and have issued the following advice:
- Stay away from areas where protests are happening
- Do not go to counter-protest
- If you are out and about, please be vigilant and stay safe
- Go with someone you trust
- If you are on your own, have a safety plan and let someone you trust know when you are going, how long you will be and when you will return home
- Where possible, support vulnerable residents/elderly neighbours
- Ensure access to a mobile phone in case of emergency
The Trust operates a zero-tolerance policy on violence, racism and discrimination. Police support available 24/7 if you feel you are being targeted as a result of your race or religion. In emergencies, call 999, or 101 for non-emergencies. You can also report online on the West Yorkshire Police website.
