This full day course explores the understanding of contextual safeguarding and extra familial harm. Using group work, participants will work through real life case studies to provide context and practical application of the learning using system practices to influence better outcomes.

This course will cover:

  • contextual safeguarding and extra familial harm
  • indicators of child exploitation
  • barriers and challenges for young people involved in exploitation
  • how to apply a systemic practice module to child exploitation
  • the processes and interventions used by the Child Exploitation Team

Planned learning outcomes:

  • Recognise when a child is at risk of exploitation
  • Knowledge of the tools and support available to provide an appropriate early intervention
  • Be able to respond appropriately to a child identified as being at risk
  • Understand the role of Calderdale Child Exploitation Team and how to make a referral
