Ward 20’s proud manager, Amy Scholes, wants to shine a light on the care, empathy, compassion and kindness that Nursing Associate, Lauren Bartlett, and Sister, Irene (Faye) Juno, recently showed a patient.
Their efforts supported her to visit St. James’s University Hospital in Leeds, where her very poorly son was being cared for.
Amy said: “Our patient is living with dementia and her only living relative was her son, who was reaching the end of his life.
“The staff at St. James's went to great lengths to isolate their patient to give them a chance to spend some precious time together.
“Lauren and Irene took it from there. Between them, they not only supported their patient and arranged the transport on the day, but they also went with her to see her son.
“They were able to give the two of them some privacy, so they could spend some valuable time together to say goodbye.
“It was an emotional time for our patient, as well as Lauren and Irene, who were there when their patient needed them the most.
"I couldn’t be prouder and know that it wouldn’t have been possible without their care, empathy, compassion and kindness.”
Amy shared her thanks via the Staff Appreciation intranet page. You can share your thanks, as well as also nominate colleagues for a Star Award there.
