Clinicians in our HRI Emergency Department are seeing the benefits of Dragon Voice Recognition, and successful training sessions held by THIS colleagues have helped support the transition.

Dragon VR is an excellent resource that benefits our patients, clinicians, and administrative teams. It enables clinicians to dictate as they would with Winscribe, capturing immediate thoughts and findings in real time.

A&E Consultant, Amjid Mohammed, said: "We are launching dragon dictation software in the new A&E department at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. The department has a better environment with less ambient noise than the old A&E and we are taking advantage of this by using Dragon software to help with documentation in EPR.

"The aim of this is to improve efficiency of documentation, clarity and completeness of documentation. There are multiple benefits to this, and we hope to realise this as we go forward. This is a change, and it will take time to embed, but we are off to a good start."

THIS colleagues Nathan Hartley, Helen Sutcliffe and Thomas Paulovic are hosting training sessions right up to the end of August (see below). They will be on hand to run through the training with clinicians so that it’s tailored to them. They'll also help to set up their account for Dragon and activate the licences.

When is the training and will I need to do anything?

  • Sessions will be in the MDT room at HRI each Wednesday until 28 August between 08:30 and 10:30.
  • You’ll need to allocate roughly 40-45 minutes of your time so they can set you on your way.
