The finishing touches to our new Community Diagnostic Centre in Broad Street Plaza are being completed this week.
Construction is expected to have finished by Wednesday, with our first patients expected on Monday, 22 July.
The aim of a CDC is to make diagnostic tests more readily available for our patients by providing a single point of access to a range of services in the community.
Deputy Director of Operations and CDC Project Lead, Sarah Clenton, said: “I’m delighted that we’re able to provide this excellent facility for the people of Calderdale.
“It will make diagnostic tests more readily available to patients, enabling us to provide timely access for people who need an investigative test.
“Having it in the centre of Halifax will allow us to give greater choice to patients, whilst increasing the number of tests we can carry out.”
In December we also started to deliver additional phlebotomy, ECG and ultrasound capacity from the existing Broad Street building, to help bring down waiting times.
Work is also underway to deliver a Community Diagnostic Centre on the University of Huddersfield campus, in a first-of-its-kind partnership.
