This year one of the community division's goals is to support more patients to self-manage their health. To help achieve this goal, 38 of our AHPs have recently trained on the Bridges Self-Management Programme.
The programme aims to develop the skills of participants to help teach them techniques to use with patients to encourage self-management. One aspect was a focus on the language AHPs can use to encourage patients to think of their own goals.
Last week a Bridges Reflection and Sustainability Session was hosted by Occupational Therapy Clinical Educator, Jessica Loxam, and Physiotherapist, Julie Taylor. The session was an opportunity to reflect on what had been taught on the Bridges Self-Management Programme and to discuss ideas of how to share this learning and implement within teams.
This session was attended by a mixture of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists and assistant practitioners (pictured).
