Hello my name is…

Sharon Senior. I am a visible police presence to both CRH and HRI, giving reassurance, advice, and helping to stop criminal activity taking place at the hospitals.

What is your current role and career background?

I’ve have been employed by West Yorkshire Police for nearly 20 years, and have always been in neighbourhood policing. I've previously patrolled two very demanding areas in Leeds.

I am also a Fraud Ambassador for West Yorkshire Police, and a tutor, and I have been tutoring new recruits within the Force for more than 10 years. My role as a Police Community Support Officer is very rewarding, as helping people in the community with different problems and helping them in very difficult situations makes my job very worthwhile.

What is the highlight of your career so far?

I received a Commendation in 2005, when I saved a baby’s life. I was given an award by the Chief Constable of West Yorkshire, which was a very proud moment for me and my family.

Who is your hero/heroine and why?

My hero has always been my dad. Sadly, he died in 2018 of vascular dementia. He was a very strong individual that worked very hard all his life and never took anything for granted. He always treated people with respect and taught me good values in life.

When you are not at work, how do you relax?

When I am not working, I love spending time with my fiancé and my family. I have two sons - George, who is 20, and Paul, who is 33. I love going to the theatre and going to the cinema. My favourite holiday destination is New Zealand.
