This week is Learning Disability Week, and the theme this year is 'Do you see me?'.

Do you see me is about being seen, heard and valued and is a positive message created by people with a learning disability to build a movement of change. It's about breaking down the barriers that people with a learning disability face.

Deputy Chief Executive and Health Inequalities Director Lead, Rob Aitchison, said: "Learning Disability Week is a great opportunity to remind ourselves that true inclusion means recognising and celebrating the unique strengths of all.  This year’s theme of ‘Do you see me?’ is especially powerful – there is fantastic work going on across the organisation but we also know colleagues and patients with learning disabilities don’t always get the opportunities they should.  Please take part in support learning disability week by making a personal pledge.”

Project Search have created this video to highlight the contributions people with learning disabilities are making at CHFT.

The Learning Disabilities Team will be doing a walkaround on the wards at CRH on Tuesday and at HRI on Thursday. They will be joined by Project Search and by Roy Hayes, Expert by Experience from Lead the Way.

From Monday, 1st July the mandatory learning disability training in ESR will be changing for all colleagues. It will move over to merge with part one of the Oliver McGowan Learning Disability and Autism training.
