Ramadan begins this Wednesday 22 March and will end on Thursday 20 April. And colleagues who are observing the month can pick up a Fasting Pack from either learning centre from Wednesday onwards.

The packs are being introduced after feedback to the Race Equality Network and to our Colleague Engagement Team. They will include water, Prayers and a fasting timetable.

Ramadan is the ninth and holiest month of the Islamic calendar. It falls at a different time each year and is determined by the lunar cycle. From dawn until sunset, Muslims fast (there are some exemptions) and their focus is shifted to the spiritual dimension of life. They connect with Allah through prayers at five points in the day.

If you have any questions about the packs or want to know more please email raceequalitynetwork@cht.nhs.uk
